More about the treasures in the launch Box…

FROM TANAGRA WINERY
The intriguing Single Vineyard Colombard 2019, third vintage and impressive evidence of what this humble grape presents when given five-star treatment. Usually vinified as an easy-drinking, light and off-dry wine, the Tanagra Colombard, by contrast, is dry, both elegant and with some complexity. Delicate aromas are followed by tropical fruit flavours on the palate, the wine lent body from a month in third-fill oak, finished with a hint of cream. This limited edition has been favourably compared (by Tanagra’s Dutch importers) to a good French chardonnay! Both a delicious aperitif and fine partner to a wide range of summery fare. Low alcohol levels add to its trendy appeal.

The perennially popular Tanagra Cabernet Franc is the farm’s flagship wine. The mature vines occupy a 1 ha high-altitude site registered as a Single Vineyard. Early morning harvesting is followed by whole berry maceration before natural fermentation from wild yeast took takes place. The wine is aged for 14 months in neutral French oak. The 2016 Cabernet Franc, intense purple in hue, offers a symphony of berry flavours, rounded with cassis, violets and hints of pepper. The tannins are gentle and ripe and the finish long and rich. A flagship to flaunt!

For more information on the two wines visit Tanagra’s website and click on the individual wines.

FROM BEMINDWYNE
An exciting and refreshing pair of 2019 wines from Ilse awaits your palate!
The Bemind Sauvignon Blanc, produced from Robertson grapes grown in sandy soil, offers a pleasing classic, bone dry, but with notes of white peach and apricot on the palate. Moderate alcohol levels and a mineral finish add up to a wine destined for sauvignon blanc awards this year.

Bemind continues to produce the only Cinsault in the valley, an ongoing triumph with grapes sourced from 35-year-old dryland vines in a Breedekloof single vineyard. Bursting with cherry and raspberry flavours, this light-textured red was matured for three months in third-fill 225 litre French oak. Juicy, delicious and well-balanced enjoyment!.

FROM LORD’S WINES
Lord’s scintillating non-vintage MCC Brut has already notched up an impressive total of awards since inception. The classic combination of their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes produce a beautifully balanced bubbly that offers crisp green apple aromas and follows with lively bubbles and hints of yeast on the palate. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed, and the wine is left on the lees for 12 months. Zero dosage. Double gold awards from Michelangelo, the National Wine Challenge and Veritas attest to its fine qualities.

Lord’s Pinot Noir has proved hugely popular with winelovers who have discovered the many attractions of the grape at this cellar. The earthy nose leads to a fairly light-bodied wine with berry flavours and smooth tannins, making it accessible and a fine match with mushroom dishes, among others. Grapes from 15-year-old vines yielded wine that spent 14 months in French oak. Awarded double silver by judges of the National Wine Challenge.
